Helianthus annuus
These bright and cheerful multi-flowering sunflowers have golden-yellow rays around chocolate centers. Honeybees and other pollinators adore them and you’ll have plenty to cut for bouquets. After bloom is finished, the flower heads filled with oil-rich seeds feed hungry songbirds.

Gardener’s Notes: Sow seeds directly in the garden in full sun in spring after night temperatures stay above 50F (10C). Plant 1/2″ deep, spacing seeds 4 to 6″ apart. Keep evenly moist. When seedlings are 3″ tall, thin to stand 1 foot apart, allowing roots and sturdy, tall stalks room to grow. (Extra seedlings can be transplanted elsewhere). Keep plants well watered.
