Allium schoenoprasum
Chives are an indispensable ingredient wherever a mild onion flavour is desired. They are easy to grow, very hardy, and can be tucked away in any odd corner of the garden. Pale purple flowers appear in early Spring and can be used to flavour and colour herbal vinegar.

Growing Instructions:
Sow seed outdoors May to June, or start indoors and transplant after the danger of frost has passed. Sow 6mm (1/4in) deep and 15cm (6in) apart, in rows spaced 30cm (12in) apart. Chives can be harvested continually to stimulate growth.
