Brassica oleracea
This rapidly growing member of the cabbage family produces a greenish-white enlarged stem with short tops and few leaves. The flesh is white with nutty flavour when eaten raw and a mild cabbage taste when cooked. Like Purple Vienna Kohlrabi, White Vienna is a pre-1860 variety.

Growing Instructions:
Sow direct outdoors from April to July at 1cm (1/2in) depth), and 2.5cm (1in) apart. Space rows 30-45cm (12-18in) apart. Thin the emerging seedlings to 10cm (4in) apart in their row. For best growth, irrigation is essential through dry periods. White Vienna is best harvested when the stem reaches 5-75.cm (2-3in) in diameter.
