Gardeners’ Notes: Start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before last spring frost or sow directly outdoors when temperatures are above 50F (10C). Grow in average, well-drained soil spacing seeds 4-6 inches apart. Thin to recommended spacing. Keep soil moist especially during dry periods. In hot areas, grow in light shade. In frost-free areas, plant in fall for winter and spring bloom. Provide trellis for vines to climb.
