Lathyrus vestitus
Long-blooming, evergreen, and deliciously grape scented – native sweet pea vine! Prolific and pleasing, the vibrant, 1” violet-pink blooms appear January thru mid-Summer. Climbing by tendrils to 6-8’ tall and 3’ across – it’s perfect for covering a fence or decorating a trellis. Excellent in a large container (15 gal+) and a welcome sight for butterflies and birds. Tolerant of clayish and sandy soil. Grows under oaks!
Vigorous grower that is excellent for erosion control of banks and slopes. Fragrant flowers loved by bees. Gorgeous displays. Self-sows by spurting seeds in all directions. 4 feet high.
